WHAT IS THE PYRAMID MODEL?
Children need positive relationships, and for over 20 years, the Pyramid Model has guided early childhood classrooms in supporting social and emotional development. Through evidence-based research, innovative practices, and a global reach, it helps programs create caring, supportive environments that nurture growth and prevent challenging behaviors. The framework is organized into three tiers of support:
Tier 1: Nuturing Relationships & Environments
Warm, trusting relationships and safe, predictable, engaging classrooms.
Tier 2: Targeted Social-Emotional Supports
Intentional teaching strategies, small group activities, and positive guidance.
Tier 3: Individualized Interventions
Personalized strategies developed with families and specialists for children with persistent challenges.
